Victims of Beng Kak refused to accept the Condo offered by the Municipal Authority
On June 28, 2011 ADHOC staff observed the protest in front of the EU office organized by 300 protesters of Bk residents.
The demonstration started on Friday June 24th and still continues on today.
The demonstrators representing 07 villages wanted to give a petition to the President of the European Unions (EU) claiming for a flat on the ground with the size of 4m×16m as a trade off for those who have small plot of land or small house. However, for those who have bigger house or plot of land, they proposed a trade off with 2, 3 or 4 flats by the size of 4m×16m (The foundation of the flat must be strongly constructed so that the owners can build additional story). Meanwhile, two EU representatives accepted the petition and promised to look into the issue more thoroughly.
It is noted that the police and other relevant authority did nothing to the protesters and up till now the municipal authority did not give any official response or solution yet.
Furthermore, ADHOC will continue to monitor and urge the municipality to hold negotiation with the victim’s representatives with the assistance of ADHOC.
