The Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association with a French acronym (ADHOC) emerged out of a scratch in December 1991 soon after the Paris Peace Agreements of October 23, 1991, bringing the four factional fighting parties to a peace agreement. Since then, ADHOC has sought support either from National, Regional or International communities to reach its specific goals to concretely change the attitude and behavior of people in government for good governance.
International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH)
During FIDH 34th Congress held in Casablanca, Maroc, on 10-14 January 2001, all FIDH Members present at that event had unanimously voted for ADHOC’s full Membership, bringing it out of an Observer Status. Since then, ADHOC, through its presence at every meeting organized by FIDH, has demonstrated its strong commitment to sustain peace and justice in Cambodia and elsewhere. Furthermore, ADHOC has closely cooperated with Human Rights Watch. This cooperation has been translated into the issuing of joint urgent appeals, statements, press releases and conferences aiming at denouncing violent acts against human rights violations.
