Several villagers from Brama village, Kampong Domrey commune in Kratie’s Chhloung district protested in front of Kratie Provincial Court, demanding the court to release Say Yim, 62, who was arrested on 20 July 2015.
Hean Chhev Kun, a coordinator for local human rights group ADHOC in Kratie province, said Mr. Say Yim was arrested at the provincial referral hospital around 6 pm on 20 July 2015 when he took care his wife who had been unconsciousness during a clash with local police in the village.
The human rights defender added the villagers who face the forced eviction from the provincial authorities have sought intervention in their land dispute from different public institutions in Phnom Penh since late May.
