On 09 July 2015 at 3pm, Mrs Leng Phan (age 56), was kill by her intoxicated 
husband, Mr Leng Phan (age 60), at Prek Treng village, Prek thnout commune, Toek Chu district, Kompot province, in an act of jealousy.
In a state of intoxication, Mrs Leng Phan’s husband used violence against his wife by cutting her neck and arm with a knife and by using an axe to mutilate her sexual organs, leading eventually to her death.
Upon the police’s intervention the husband committed suicide to avoid imprisonment. Gender-based violence and domestic violence are serious human rights violations and remain to occur throughout Cambodia. ADHOC is active in relation to the prevention of gender-based violence and the provision of (legal) assistance to victims and their families.
ADHOC will follow up in this case and provide legal assistance to the victim’s family.
