Between the end of 2014 and early 2015, 9 year old B.S.N. and 11 year old P.S.P. were raped multiple times by 17 year old suspect Mr. Vorn Kong. Both victims were from Kesdong village, Kang Cham commune, Thalaborivath district, Stung Treng province. The victim’s parents found out about the rape when they overheard the suspect talking about it to the girls on the 13th of March.
After brining their case to ADHOC, the ADHOC provincial team was able to intervene and bring the case to the provincial police. The 17 year old suspect was arrested by the police and is being questioned at the provincial court. Tomorrow, on the 19th of March 2015, the two young victims will undergo medical examination at the provincial hospital.
Gender Based Violence in general and rape in particular are serious human rights violations. ADHOC works hard to prevent these violations. Part of that effort is making sure perpetrators receive punishment after a fair trial. ADHOC will keep following up this case to make sure justice is served.
