The Cambodian Human Rights Development and Association (ADHOC) has organized a National Workshop on “Dialogue on Promoting Fundamental Freedom” with the aim of opening a dialogue between local communities with senior government officials; providing a forum for community’s representatives expressing their grave concern, challenge, and raised concrete recommendation to rightsholders, to fulfil and respect for fundamental rights and expand the democratic space for civil society. There were 150 participants from 8 different provinces, including Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Chhnang, Ratanakkiri, Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Mondulkiri, Kampong Cham and civil society organizations. Plus, highly presented from the government representative, His Excellency Kata On, Member of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee. While His Excellency, Jin Malin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice, His Excellency Chhim Kan, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Administration and Director of the Department of Associations, Ministry of Interior, was absent. As a result of the discussions, the dialogue achieved some major results, such as: Representatives of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee responded to the concerns and requests of the communities, and promising to submit these request and concern to the relavent stakeholders for discussion.
