The Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC) provided a four-day training on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to members of local commune councils from Tboung Khmum province.
Mr. Ny Sokha, officer of ADR Project for local human rights group ADHOC, said with financial support from the European Union (EU), the training session is meant to equip those members of commune council with ADR tools and knowledge of how to solve disputes in their communities.
He added that the ADR is mainly aimed at building and strengthening harmonization in local communities where disputes could be solved without the involvement of courts.
With this method, local villagers would choose to peacefully end their dispute and avoid any revenge to each other.
11 ADR training sessions have been provided to over thousands of villagers and members of local commune councils throughout 11 provinces and cities since the project launch in 2013.
