Joint Press Release Celebration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Under the Theme “Empowering Rights of Women and Girls to Be Free from All Forms of Violence and Harassment”

Phnom Penh, November 25, 2024

We, a group of civil society organizations, including associations, unions and non-governmental organizations working to promote labor rights, women’s rights and gender equality in Cambodia, are launching a celebration of this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (the “16 Days Campaign”) under the theme “Empowering Rights of Women and Girls to Be Free from All Forms of Violence and Harassment.”

The planned actions aim to raise awareness about the 16 Days Campaign, and provide opportunities for women activists and human rights defenders (WHRDs) working on gender and in other areas to call for the challenges they face to be addressed and to raise key messages and requests. Throughout the campaign, women activists and WHRDs will request and urge the Royal Government to strictly respect and protect human rights, especially those of WHRDs, and to effectively address the challenges faced by women and girls across Cambodia.

We are pleased to inform the public and invite them to join us in celebrating this day online and
